The NG TWELVE-FIVE is a German designed AEROMAN completely rebuilt and customized for Midwest conditions. This system has a 50 ft. tower with a with a rotor diameter of 12.5 m (41 ft) which consists of two rotor blades.
|
NG Twelve-Five The hub contains the device for varying the pitch of the blades. Contrary to most other small wind energy converters the NG TWELVE-FIVE features the pitch control system of the blades giving the advantages of:
The fiberglass rotor blades are aerodynamically formed according to the profile NACA 4424-4415. The rotor drives a generator through a three-stage spur gearing. A spring-loaded disc brake is located between the rotor and the rotor bearing. The hydraulic control devices are contained in a single block mounted on the generator housing. The rotor bearing and the generator are flange-mounted to the gearbox, which in turn is connected to the wind tracker via a pedestal. The wind tracking system is vane-driven via worm gearing.
The tower is of octagonal tubular steel construction. The electronic safety and control devices, together with relevant instrumentation are housed in a switch cabinet on the tower pedestal. This switch cabinet also contains the power terminals for connecting the NG TWELVE-FIVE to the grid or to the consumer loads. Advantages of the NG TWELVE-FIVE:
